Mais de um ano depois do primeiro referendo (12 Junho'08) sobre o Tratado de Lisboa da União Europeia, a Irlanda é chamada a pronunciar-se outra vez sobre a mesma questão no próximo dia 2 de Outubro. Ireland will be voting on exactely the same Lisbon Treaty as last year. E porquê outra vez? And why again? E porque é que Sarkosy considerou que - and why did Sarkosy consider that - if there were a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, in every country where such a referendum would take place, it would be lost [se o Tratado de Lisboa fosse a referendo, em cada País em que tal referendo fosse feito, o Tratado estaria perdido] ???

IRISH FRIENDS, you have already and historically fought for your freedom.
AMIGOS IRLANDESES, historicamente vocês já tiveram que lutar pela vossa liberdade.

Now we - citizens of Europe who have been denied the right to a referendum - need and ask you to fight for our freedom and for our democratic future.
Agora nós - cidadãos europeus a quem foi negado o direito ao referendo - precisamos e pedimos-vos que lutem pela nossa liberdade e pelo nosso futuro democrático.

And the same as last year, once again we are asking you: VOTE NO FOR US. PLEASE!

People in Ireland are being made to vote on exactly the same text they rejected in a referendum last year. EU leaders admit that the text hasn’t changed by a single comma, and that it will apply in exactly the same way as before. Despite this, Irish politicians are pretending it is different. This is an extension of the deeply undemocratic attitudes which saw EU leaders conspiring to deny the rest of Europe a vote on the Treaty after the EU Constitution was rejected by French and Dutch voters.
This cannot be allowed to continue.

Os Irlandeses são chamados a votar sobre exactamente o mesmo texto que rejeitaram em referendo no ano passado. Os responsáveis da União Europeia admitem que o texto não mudou nem numa vírgula e que será aplicado tal e qual como anteriormente. Apesar disso, os políticos Irlandeses fingem que é diferente. Trata-se de um prolongamento das atitudes profundamente anti-democráticas que levaram os responsáveis da União Europeia a conspirar para negar ao resto da Europa o voto no Tratado, depois de a Constituição Europeia ter sido rejeitada pelos eleitores Franceses e Holandeses.
Não se pode permitir que isto continue.

Ireland tell EU that no means no

4 Out'09 - As this time Ireland said yes to the Lisbon Treaty, my conclusion is:

It has crossed my mind before that there should be weapons' manufacturers behind this story. Enough big money, enough big power to achieve what they did achieve after all.
The Irish will be known as the people who can say yes or no, depending on how much money they get from it.
They themselves will probably be the ones to feel bad and guilty about it, soon or later and more than anybody else.
It's not for us to judge their about-turn now. Their children, their grand-children, History will judge them. And will specially judge the liders behind all this human misery.
And finally in the end, when money will matter nothing no more - something that people often pretend to ignore - the Lord will judge them.
